Podziękowania i trochę o szyciu / To give thanks and also a little bit info on sewing

Hello my beloved friends, at the very beginning I would like to thank all those who responded to our request for help. As I wrote in the previous post, last week there was a tragedy in our town. Details can be found here. During the past week a lot has gotten changed. Many people have declared their willingness to help and support those in need (mainly in the form of clothing and cleaning products). As I know most of the products will come this week. Certainly all of them are very useful and whatever will not be in right size, it will be given to other victims of that tragedy.

I think the most important thing is that they no longer need to live in the orphanage because they have been given an apartment to live in. It's small, because there is only one room (previously they've had three of them), but in very good condition and does not require any renovation.
Today they are to move there, but they still lack the most important ... furniture, quilts and pillows. I hope that there will be some funds to get some of the above.

To avoid being told that I do not sew anything now, here are the pictures of some things that I just started.

And recently I bought a beautiful fabric bundles, which I will use to create something soon :)

Once again, thank you very much on behalf of the victims for any help from you.
You are so lovely!

Ps.

Ps. I am sure that everyone has already noticed that my blog has a new look. It is almost in 100% the result of efforts put by Joanna from the Shape Moth blog. She spent a lot of time to complete ( with my little help) a new header, also to attach a watermark to my photos and other things.

Potrzebna pomoc/ In need of help !!!!

I do not know if that's a good idea to write about it on the blog, but I
hope it will not offend You in any way as the matter is really urgent.

Yesterday  around 10 am, the old apartment building, that was constructed around the 2nd World War, got burnt in our town. Those people not only have lost their homes but also everything they had and whatever was in their modest flats. Among those, that were affected, there is also our family. Unfortunately, they've lost everything. The city authorities gave them a place in the orphanage for some time and 100 PLN to buy the most necessary things ... For those that are from abroad I will add, that this amount it is about $ 33 (enough to buy some shampoo, a soap, a toothbrush with a toothpaste and a pair of some cheap underwear).
I am writing this hoping that you will be among people who could help them in any way. At this time, they need everything (from the underwear to the furniture). If you personally do not have that option, you may probably know about any institutions that support people affected by the tragedy.

Poniżej umieszczam kilka zdjęć.
Below I've included some pictures from that disaster

The continuation of our preparation for the birthday and some important questions / Ciąg dalszy przygotowań do urodzin i kilka ważnych pytań.

Today is the fourth anniversary of the birth of my toddler. It would be
nice to organize a birthday party on the day it really is, but
unfortunately I could not have booked a room for that day. In fact, my
beloved one has only taken advantage of that, as this way she would
celebrate her birthday twice. Today we are celebrating a birthday in the
kinder garden and a few days later her friends and the whole family will
celebrate it together again.
In our kinder garden there is a nasty habit of bringing candies on
birthdays. I hope I haven't offended anybody saying that, but I do not like
when the kids are stuffed with sweets ... I could have done the same as the
others do, but I realized that if I don't buy the sweets for my child, why
would I give it to other children? It's a little bit unfair. I was thinking
about what could be prepared instead and as a result we've decided to bake
some muffins. Honestly, I don't have so much experience in baking cakes.
Throughout my life I've baked not more than two cakes. At home we seldom
eat something sweet, maybe with the exception of ice creams, that we always
have in the freezer in case it's really hot. I wondered if my muffins did
not turn out to be a total dud. Fortunately, they've turned out to be very
easy to prepare and really delicious, and it's possible to make them very
quickly. Probably you all know how to make them, but I want to share my
recipe anyway. It maybe useful for someone.
We've made muffins in two ways: one is a version of a muffin filled with
chocolate, and the other (due to children who are allergic to cocoa) filled
with halva. Both are great.

Ingredients:
 dry:
- 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 package of vanilla sugar (16 gram)
- 1 and 3/4 cups of flour
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
wet:
- 100 g butter, melted and cooled
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of coffee dissolved in 2 tablespoons of hot water (because
of the little ones I used decaffeinated coffee)
to measure:
- 24 pieces of halva (in the second version is chocolate with hazelnuts)

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and then add the dry mixture to wet
ingredients, that were mixed separately. Mix everything with a spoon just
to combine ingredients (mixing too long will make the muffins tough). To a
muffin form already greased or filled with muffin cups, put a teaspoon of
pastry and then in the middle of the dough lay pieces of halva (or
chocolate with nuts) and then put the rest of the pastry. Insert the mold
in the oven that is preheated to 180 º C and bake the muffins for about 20
minutes. 5 minutes after having removed the muffins from the oven, remove
them from the form and cool them on wire rack. The components of this
recipe give around 48 mini muffins.

Składniki
suche:
- 2/3 szklanki cukru pudru
- 1 opakowanie cukru wanilinowego
- 1 i 3/4 szklanki mąki pszennej
- 1/4 łyżeczki soli
- 1 i 1/2 łyżeczki proszku do pieczenia
mokre:
- 100 g stopionego i ostudzonego masła
- 1 jajko
- 1/2 szklanki mleka
- 2 łyżki kawy rozpuszczonej w2 łyżkach gorącej wody (ja ze względu na maluchy użyłam kawy bezkofeinowej)
do środka:
- 24 kawałki chałwy (w drugiej wersji jest czekolada z orzechami laskowymi)

W misce wymieszać suche składniki, wlać do nich zmieszane w innym pojemniku mokre składniki.
Formę wstawić do piekarnika nagrzanego do 180ºC i piec muffinki około 20 minut.

And at this point I wondered if I should not have a chance to choose a
course of laying a nice cake ... It just came out unevenly.

Those are the muffins filled with the halva right after removing them from
the oven. As can be seen here in some of them the halva has exploded.

Well, and here is my faithful assistant. Although my little one nibbled
from time to time during her work with me, but as a result we didn't lack
anything.

No a tutaj mój wierny pomocnik.

So these are my culinary adventures ... It is important that the muffins
did come out and they are delicious. I highly recommend!

Aaaa. And to avoid you thinking that I am unskilled and do not know how to
handle kitchen tasks, I must say that I can cook. In our house we like to
eat soups, salads, fruit and for dinner there must always be some meat.
Cakes, cookies and chocolates are the things less important and therefore
are almost completely eliminated from the daily menu.

And by the way I would like to ask if anyone of you has a recipe for a
delicious cake? It is important that it shouldn't be too sweet and the best
if served with whipped cream instead of cream. Please take into
consideration the fact that I have no experience in making cakes ...

To tyle z moich kulinarnych przygód... Ważne, że babeczki wyszły i są przepyszne. Gorąco polecam!!!

Aaaa. Ciasta, ciasteczka i czekoladki to rzeczy drugiego i trzeciego rzędu dlatego zostały prawie całkowicie wyeliminowane z codziennego menu:)

I also need your help in another matter. I recently ordered several fabric
bundles from the U.S. and I was a little surprised by what I got. Fabrics
(all 100% cotton) were of very different thicknesses. Personally, I am
accustomed to a strong, pleasant when touched, cotton. That is what I
always get in Canada and I got really disappointed when I received the one
purchased from the U.S. Some fabrics are very thin and slightly shiny. In
my opinion, they are not suitable for patchwork, but I was surprised as
they're recommended by patchwork designers. I talked about it with Gazynia,
because she sometimes orders the fabric from the United States, too. And
she's received some fabric bundles the same as I did (some single pieces).
I am writing this because maybe someone of you knows, if these fabrics are
marked in any way in stores? Does the quality depend on the manufacturer?
Maybe you can help me to avoid same disappointments in the future. If you
are able to recommend specific producers, it would be grateful. Besides, I
am planning to purchase a set of solid FQ fabrics and I have a problem,
because I do not know which manufacturer to choose.
I hope that someone will know the answer to my questions, because I'd
rather didn't end up shopping online after the first try.

The birthday invitations / Zaproszenia urodzinowe

This time I am going to talk on a different topic. In a few days our little
daughter is going to be 4 year old and I am in the process of preparing
her birthday party. This year we organize it in a place outside our house.
My little girl keeps talking about that birthday party, asking me how many
days are left and keeps on adding people to the guest list. As I took the
issue of birthday party seriously, I decided to make some invitations. I
do not like ordinary things but rather original ones and I must admit that
it's a cool job, not only for a child. I've also had a good time during the
preparation.

I like the idea of packing the invitations into hand-made envelopes, so all
the invitations look that way. First I've bought colored paper, paper
flowers, ribbons and other accessories. During preparation it turned out
that there could have been more paper flowers. I thought the pack of 90
pieces would be completely enough for us, but at the end we've run out some
of them to finish the task.

Below there are some photos of prepared invitations.
Poniżej kilka zdjęć gotowych zaproszeń.

And here are those made of colored sheets of paper. Sometimes I think they
look better than previous ones, although all the people admit they like the
previous ones.

By the way, I would like to welcome all new followers. It is nice to see
that more and more people visit my website.
